	Battery details Battery requirements Roborover requires 4 x “C” size alkaline batteries (not included). The remote controller requires 3 x “AAA” size batteries (not included). Installing or changing batteries in Roborover You will know when Roborover’s batteries are nearly depleted because he will become less responsive to commands from the remote controller and his movements will be slower. To change the batteries in Roborover, first carefully lay him on his side. Do not balance him or place him near a table edge. Install the batteries as follows:

		1. Open the battery compartment on the remote controller using a Phillips screwdriver (not included) to remove the screws on the battery compartment cover. 2. Insert the batteries according to the diagram. Ensure that the positive and negative polarities match the illustrations inside the battery compartment.


		3. Replace the battery compartment cover and replace the screw using the screwdriver. Do not over-tighten.


Installing or changing batteries in the remote controller Open the battery compartment on the remote controller 1. using a Phillips screwdriver (not included) to remove the screw on the battery compartment cover. 2. 	Important battery information • Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type. • Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries [standard (Carbon- zinc), Alkaline or rechargeable] or rechargeable batteries of different capacities. • Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before recharging them. • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision. • Respect the correct polarity, (+) and (-). • Do not try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. • Do not dispose batteries in a fire. • Replace all batteries of the same type/brand at the same time. • The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. • Remove exhausted batteries from the toy. • Batteries should be replaced by adults. • Remove batteries if the toy is not going to be played with for some time.

Getting started After you have inserted batteries you are ready to meet Roborover! First place him upright, on a large smooth, flat surface, away from edges and obstacles. Next, locate the power button on the base of his body on the right side,and then press it to turn him ON.



He will begin one of his many start-up routines as he introduces himself! He will rove around, speak and his face will be animated. If you want to stop him at any time, press any button on the remote controller. Demo mode Roborover has three demo routines to show his movements, animations and personality! He will also tell you more about his features and even joke with you.To access these functions, point the remote controller at Roborover and press the Demo button. NOTE: Roborover moves around during any demo routine. Ensure his surrounding area is free from obstacles and edges. Volume control Roborover has three volume levels: high, medium or low. To change the volume,press and hold the Stop button for about two seconds. You will hear when his volume has lowered. If you continue to hold the Stop button the volume will set to low and then back to high.

Controlling Roborover Roborover has tread-based wheels which let him move easily in any direction,turn,and even spin on the spot. Roborover also detects signals from the remote controller regardless of the direction he is facing. Location You can operate Roborover indoors but not outdoors. He is capable of driving over small obstacles, but be sure not to damage Roborover in trying to do so. Driving control As he drives around, Roborover can detect and avoid obstacles in his range.This is approximately 8-12” (20-30cm). He can only see obstacles that are directly in front of him, or behind him. He talks and makes comments as he goes!

			To control his movements,you can use the direction pad on the remote controller. For example, press the left direction button, to move Roborover to his left.


To make him turn on the spot, use either the left or right direction buttons for either clockwise, or counter-clockwise turns.He can also drive over small obstacles no higher than a 10-15? gradient, or about 1 inch (2.5cm) high.Be careful that the obstacles do not unbalance him,or he might fall to one side.


Adjusting the trim If Roborover does not drive forward straight, you can adjust the trim up to three stops, using the trim dial on the remote controller. If he drives to the left, move the dial to the right. If he drives to the right, move the dial to the left.

	Fall detection If Roborover falls forward about 45?, he will balance on his treads and continue moving and making comments, but you will need to set him back upright to play with him normally. If he falls forward all the way, you will need to set him back upright. To do so, simply pick him up and set him upright on his treads.


	Object detection By default, Roborover’s Object detection feature is enabled. If you want to be able to drive Roborover closer to small obstacles, you might want to turn Roborover’s Object detection off.To toggle Object detection off, quickly press the Forward direction button twice and hold. Roborover will make a comment to indicate whether or not he can “see”.When you release the Forward direction button, his object detection will be enabled. NOTE: This feature does not have any effect in Demo or Game modes. Seek function Roborover is equipped with a Seek function, which allows him to follow you,or locate and move towards you. He can still detect and avoid obstacles in his path while seeking.To turn on the Seek function, press and hold the Seek button on the remote controller.Roborover will look for you, and make comments as he goes. If he strays away from you, continue to hold the Seek button as he scans the area to look for you.If you release the Seek button, Roborover thinks he has reached you, and will make another comment. Press the Seek button again if you want him to continue seeking you. NOTE: Avoid using the Seek function in a cluttered area, as it will confuse Roborover and make it harder for him to detect the signal from the remote controller.Roborover’s IR sensors are based on reflection which means he can see highly reflective surfaces, such as white walls or mirrors more easily and from greater distances than matte or black surfaces.

	Modes Roborover has several different function modes and games. Explore Mode In Explore Mode, Roborover can explore around his environment without your commands; he can detect and avoid obstacles as he goes, and make comments. To enter Explore Mode, press the Explore button on the remote controller.After approximately 3 minutes, he will exit Explore Mode and enter Standby Mode (refer to page 11 for details). To exit Explore Mode before this, press the Stop button on the remote controller. Lookout Mode In Lookout Mode, Roborover will scan his immediate environment in front of and behind him. He can then sound an alarm if he detects movement or a change to the environment. NOTE: You cannot give Roborover drive commands while he is in Lookout Mode. To activate Lookout Mode, do the following: 1. Press the Lookout button on the remote controller. Roborover will make a comment. 2. Press the Lookout button again. 3. When he first enters Lookout Mode he will perform a long range scan of his immediate environment in front of, and behind him. This is approximately 4-6 feet (1.2-1.8m) depending on the environment. If there are objects nearby he will perform a short range scan, this is approximately 12 inches (30cm). 4. When Roborover detects any movements or new objects, he will sound an alarm. 5. If Roborover detects something, he will remain in Lookout Mode. If he does not detect anything for about 10 minutes he will exit Lookout Mode and wait for a command. If you do not enter a command within 2 minutes, he will enter Standby Mode (refer to page 11 for details). To exit Lookout Mode before the 10 minutes is over, press the Stop button on the remote controller. When he exits Lookout Mode, he will tell you if he saw anything.

	Standby Mode Roborover is equipped with a Standby Mode. If you do not interact with him for about two minutes, he will make a comment and enter Standby Mode. To wake him,press any button on the remote controller.
	Sleep Mode If Roborover is left for a further 10 minutes (that is 12 minutes in total) he will enter Sleep Mode.To wake him, gently press his bumper located on the front, between the treads, or turn him off and then on again. NOTE: If you are done playing with Roborover,remember to turn him off after he has entered Sleep Mode.


	Games Roborover has two driving-based games. Use the direction pad on the remote controller to drive him. If you do not interact with him for approximately two minutes,he will ask if you want to play again. If you do not respond, he will exit Game Mode. To activate Game Mode, do the following: 1. Press the Game button on the remote controller. 2. Roborover will say the name of the games, pausing after each name. To select the game you want, press the Game button after he says the name. 3. He will explain the rules of the game to you, and then begin! 4. To stop the game, or exit Game Mode at any time, press Stop on the remote controller.

Roborover has two driving-based games that he can play with you:

Tomb game
In Tomb game, Roborover will drive out a pattern on the ground and then ask you to
correctly repeat the pattern by controlling him using the direction pad on the remote
controller to win. If you do not correctly copy the pattern that he drives, Roborover
will drive into a “tomb wall”. If he hits the wall three times, the game is over.

Swamp game
Roborover will drive out a safe path through the “swamp” on the ground. He will then
ask you to drive him using the remote controller, in the same pattern. You need to run
through the swamp within a fixed amount of time to win. He will make comments as
he goes to tell you whether or not you are moving in the correct direction. If you drive
him too far away from his original pattern, he will “sink” in the swamp.

Roborover is equipped with lots of patterns to challenge you!

FAQs
Q. My Roborover is not responding to commands from the remote controller…
A. Make sure you point the remote controller directly at Roborover. Verify that
Roborover’s arms are not positioned in front of the IR sensors. If there is still no
response, try changing the 3 x “AAA” size alkaline batteries in the remote controller.

Q. My Roborover has trouble performing turns and is moving slowly…
A. Make sure there are neither dirt nor fibers trapped around the treads. If there
is, remove carefully with adult supervision, if required. If he still moves slowly, try
replacing the 4 x “C” size alkaline batteries in Roborover.

Q. My Roborover cannot avoid obstacles...
A. Try resetting Roborover by turning him OFF for a few seconds and then ON again.
Roborover’s IR sensors are based reflection. He can see highly reflective surfaces, such
as white walls or mirrors more easily and from greater distances than matte or black
surfaces.

WowWee 90-Day Limited Warranty
WowWee’s warranty obligations for this Roborover (this “Product”) are limited to the terms set forth below.
WowWee Group Limited (“WowWee”) warrants to the original end-user purchaser that this Product will be free
from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of 90 days from the date of retail
purchase (the “Warranty Period”). This warranty is extended only to the original end-user purchaser of a new
product that was not sold “as is”.
If a defect arises:
(1) you may within 30 days from the date of retail purchase (or such other period specified by the return
policies of the place of purchase)return this Product to the place of purchase, together with the original proof
of purchase and either the original box or the UPC code label from the box, and this Product will be replaced or,
in the event that a replacement for this Product is not available at the place of purchase, either a refund of the
purchase price for this Product or a store credit of equivalent retail value will be provided; or
(2) you may after the day that is 30 days from the date of retail purchase (or such other period specified by the
return policies of the place of purchase) and within the Warranty Period contact WowWee Customer Support to
arrange for the replacement of this Product. In the event that a replacement for this Product is not available this
Product will be replaced by WzowWee with a product of equivalent or greater retail value.
A purchase receipt or other proof of the date of retail purchase is required in order to claim the benefit of this

If this Product is replaced, the replacement product becomes your property and the replaced Product becomes
WowWee’s property. If the place of purchase refunds the purchase price of this Product or issues a store credit
of equivalent retail value, this Product must be returned to the place of purchase and becomes WowWee’s
property.
EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS
This warranty covers the normal and intended use of this Product. This warranty does not apply: (a) to damage
caused by accident, abuse, unreasonable use, improper handling and care or other external causes not arising
out of defects in materials or workmanship; (b) to damage caused by service performed by anyone who is not
an authorized representative of WowWee; (c) to any hardware, software or other add-on components installed
by the end-user; (d) if this Product has been disassembled or modified in any way; (e) to cosmetic damage,
including but not limited to scratches, dents or broken plastic, or normal wear and tear.
THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS THAT
VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. WOWWEE’S RESPONSIBITLITY FOR PRODUCT DEFECTS IS LIMITED TO THE
